“Self 1″ unknown font: arialBold.

And because it is not possible to use the development environment. Because the labels do not appear at all.

When you say “Randall and David didn’t build a complete system this way” you are correct if you mean they didn’t create a dedicated VM for Us. But they did implement the full language in a way similar to what you did here. It was really slow, but could run toy applications.

Also thanks for the list of papers citing Us. The VPRI work on “worlds” is similar and it was frustrating to me that they didn’t seem aware of the older project. But now I saw their report in this list, so I was wrong about that.

Self uses threads extensively instead, with a watchdog thread for every worker. This system gets the job done, so there is not much pressure to add exceptions.
